Hemmoroids - A Painful Condition And How To Cure It Naturally.

By Sandyie Grace

Irritations in or around the anus or rectum are called hemmoroids. Inflamed blood vessels are usually the cause of this distressing affliction. Don't worry - a hemroid is not life threatening. However hemmoroids can certainly be distressing and embarrassing. They will usually heal up in several days all by themselves, but sometimes they will not go away very quickly. When this happens, see a doctor.

The most common cause of having hemmoroids develop is by sitting for long periods of time. Sitting puts pressure on the veins in the rectum and anus, and is made worse if you are overweight. A hemroid is formed when too much pressure is place on the rectal region. This leads to the veins becoming inflamed and irritated. Excessive straining during bowel movements is another cause of hemmoroids forming.

Hypertension can also start the process and high blood pressure can exacerbate the problem. Pregnancy can lead to hypertension in some cases and also cause hemmoroids. Insufficient liquid intake and improper nutrition, especially low-fiber diets can cause hard stools, which are difficult to pass. This can cause irritation or damage to the rectal veins, and causes constipation, thus leading to a painful hemroid.

You can change your diet with a few simple steps that will help prevent a hemroid. Keeping well hydrated makes everything move smoothly, thus preventing constipation. Get enough fiber either from eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains or taking dietary supplements will also help. Staying in good overall health is also a great way to discourage hemmoroids from forming.

Being heavy and overweight can be a problem. By losing some weight, you can relieve or even prevent hemmoroids from forming. If you must sit for long periods of time for work, then it is recommended that you get up and stretch periodically. Its also a good idea if you exercise regularly, not only to prevent a hemroid from developing, but just to be in good health. Many people forget these very basic things, even tho they seem to be common sense.

In addition to regular exercise, performing Kegel exercises can also prove beneficial in keeping hemmoroids at bay. These exercises flex and strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor. Strengthening these muscles provides better muscle tone and better circulation in the entire region.

Another preventative measure for keeping hemmoroids away is one that is less known by most folks. This is a Squat Toilet. Most Western nations use seat toilets instead. But by using a seat toilet puts pressure on the anal veins where a hemroid can form. Squat toliets put no pressure on these veins and thus the incidence of hemmoroids who use these toilets is extremely low.

Hemmoroids can be severely painful, but generally clear up on their own within a few days. During the period that you have them bowel movements can be painful as the surrounding area is irritated and sore. You can take steps to prevent these from happening simply by eating properly, exercising properly and avoiding unnecessary straining. Please remember to contact your physician if your hemroid becomes worse or does not heal within a week. - 14130
