Smoking Vs. Vaporization: Which Should You Choose?

By Robert McGregor

Should you quit smoking and use a vaporizer now? Which is good for your health? How do the two methods differ?

Unless you live on another planet, the bad effects of smoking are well known. This bad habit is the leading cause of many dreaded diseases including emphysema, heart attacks, erectile dysfunction and birth defects to name a few.

One common ailment that has been identified with smoking is cancer. Thirty percent of all deaths from cancer are the result of cigarette smoking. In fact, 11 kinds of cancers are triggered by smoking, such as cancer of the esophagus, mouth, pancreas, bladder and kidney. Of these, the most dreaded is lung cancer which victimizes both men and women. Eighty-seven percent of lung cancer deaths are traced to smoking.

The cardiovascular system is also damaged by smoking which can bring about coronary artery disease. This occurs because smoking increases blood pressure and blood clotting, and limits the amount of oxygen that travels to the heart. High-density lipoprotein or the "good" cholesterol is likewise lowered by smoking.

To add insult to injury, smoking damages the skin and contributes to wrinkles. This is because nicotine contributes to impaired blood flow to the skin. With reduced oxygen and blood flow, the skin begins to sag and this leads to premature aging. Tobacco smoke also damages skin fibers that keep the skin strong and elastic.

It's easy to understand why smoking causes so much damage. A single cigarette contains over 4,000 chemicals, many of which are harmful to health and poisonous. These chemicals contribute to a host of diseases including cataracts, reduced fertility, and peptic ulcers among others. It's common knowledge that smokers have bad breath, yellow teeth and nails, and an ashy complexion.

Unfortunately, in spite of these known dangers, many people like to smoke. Tobacco is utilized by one billion people all over the world. Among smokers, 30 percent are males and' percent are females. Kids under 15 are not spared from the bad effects of smoking either since a hundred thousand take the habit daily.

If you're concerned about the ill effects of smoking, maybe it's time to kick the habit and use a vaporizer instead. Unlike smoking, this device is generally safe to use and has none of the side effects associated with smoking. In vaporization, the active ingredients of a plant or herb are released by means of heating. As the active ingredients are vaporized, they are released into the air for users to inhale them through a hose or pipe.

Since the vapor is colder than smoke, it won't irritate sensitive lung or throat tissues. The soothing vapor doesn't contain combustion byproducts like tar, carbon monoxide and other cancer-causing agents. Because of this, the vapor is cleaner and is quickly absorbed by the body.

The health benefits of vaporization are used mainly in aromatherapy, an alternative therapy that uses the fragrant oils of plants and herbs to treat nausea, pain and stress. These make vaporization a healthy alternative to smoking. - 14130
