Review of Dual Action Cleanse Colon Cleanser

With the increasing popularity of Dual Action Clease I thought I'd do a review of the product today. I will first look at the ingredients of the colon cleanser and then take a more in-depth look at the company the produces Dual Action Cleanse. This is a shorter version of my complete review of Dual Action Cleanse that you can find on my website.

A look at the ingredients will show you that it provides mostly fiber as well as some good ingredients to support the digestive system. The only slight area of concern here is that the proprietary blend is 572 mg while there is a very long list of ingredients that makes up that 572 mg. It may be possible that they're trying to spread themselves a little too thin and not able to provide enough of each ingredient. Aside from this, however, the ingredients look pretty good.

The pricing for Dual Action Cleanse a little on the higher end of the spectrum for colon cleanse products. Packages range from $59.90 to $129.80. This is not to say that it's a ripoff by any means. Just a little (not much) higher than others I've seen.

Through my research about the company behind Dual Action Cleanse, I actually found some reassuring informtion (doesn't happen too often). The Better Business Bureau gave it a 'B+' rating which is actually pretty good. Dual Action Cleanse had 0 unanswered complaints (as opposed to other's we've seen with as many as 2,500 unanswered complaints). On top of that, Dual Action Cleanse is accredited with the BBB which we don't see very much in this industry.

Many of the complaints that I see for colon cleanse products have to do with shady marketing or sales practices (often related to an autoship program). Does Dual Action Cleanse have an autoship? Yes. Does this mean they are a scam? No. And the difference is that they actually do a fairly good job of informing the customer about the autoship (it's noted on the button that you click to buy). They also offer an option to buy the product with enrolling in the autoship program (you just don't get the free shipping). Make sure that you don't enroll in the autoship if you don't want to get product in the mail each month and get charged for it.

To sum it all up, Dual Action Cleanse get's a fairly favorable review from me. The company is rated well by the BBB they are more open about their autoship than most companies out there. The price may be a bit higher (not too much higher), but in the end it's up to you to decide if you can flip the bill. - 14130

Is Chronic Fatigue Just In Your Head?

A client who had been suffering for years contacted me with the "belief" that she had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I use the term "belief" because she had been diagnosed with a number of different diseases or conditions, treated with many drugs and even referred to a psychiatrist.

After quite some time, she located a physician she found confidence in. He listened to her symptoms and reviewed her history in detail but was again prescribed medicine. She wrote to me as she had already attempted the medicinal route for CFS to no avail.

Chronic Fatigue is rather complicated. A general description is fatigue which lasts at least 24 hours and is not aided with rest. It may also become worsened with physical or mental stress.

In 1988, is was accepted as a legitimate disease. However medical professionals are not eager to diagnose it due to: 1. Treatment options are limited since there is not a known cause. 2. The symptoms can mirror several other conditions. 3. There is still a split opinion within the medical community as to whether it is a physiological or a psychological issue.

We'll discuss it here as a physiological illness. Two criteria are needed for CFS to be present: 1. Six consecutive months of chronic fatigue not due to other illnesses. 2. 4 other symptoms must accompany it such as tender lymph nodes, short-term memory loss, loss of concentration, joint pain without swelling or redness, headaches, unrefreshed sleep, muscle pain or insomnia.

Other symptoms that may also be present are chills, chronic cough, heart palpatations, night sweats, dizziness, visual disturbances or food allergies or sensitivities.

Some other physiological issues that appear quite similar to CFS (making it hard to diagnose) are: fibromyalgia, myalgic encephalomyelitis, chronic mononucleosis, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, cancer, obesity, Lyme disease or an adverse reaction to certain drugs prescribed to treat the above illnesses.

Although there is no known cause, some theories are that CFS could stem from inflamed pathways of the nervous system - but with nothing measureable in the blood like with rheumatoid arthritis or lupus.

Unknown viral illnesses and high or low blood pressure are although thought to be potential causes.

Some treatments for CFS (as a physiological disease) include: physical activity in moderation or medicines for blood pressure. There are significant side effects however so the medication should be diligently monitored.

Drug therapy has shown help for some, but most people find that the side effects outweigh the benefits. Some other therapies found helpful include deep breathing, massage, yoga and acupuncture.

Although a firm cure for CFS is not identified, I recommend my all natural High Blood Pressure Program if you believe stress, high or LOW blood pressure may be present.

Kids - Swimmer's Ear in Children

Swimmer's ear is bacterial growth infection inside the canal of the ear. It is also known as Otitis Externa. It differs a lot from ear infections which are dealt with on a regular basis, which is contracted at times when the child catches a cold. The common ear infection is known as Otitis Media, in which the middle of the ear is infected. Incase of swimmer's ear, the ear canal which leads towards the ear drum is infected by bacteria. The first symptom is that when the finger is stuck inside the ear canal, it will hurt a lot.

The skin within that are is very delicate and hence, is protected by nature by a thin earwax coating. Usually, water can easily glide inside and then outside the ear without any problem. But when the water cleans some or all of the earwax and if some of the water is retained inside, the bacteria will take advantage of this situation. Chemicals in the water aggravate the situation by increasing the irritation. It starts growing within the soft and warm ear canal and can cause swelling and redness. A slight itchiness also accompanies it. But the child must be instructed to not to scratch, otherwise there is a greater chance of the situation becoming worse.

Hearing can become difficult due to the bacterial infection as that will swell the ear canal and block the passage.

The pain and itchiness can only be gotten rid off by fighting the infection and killing the grown bacteria. In usual cases, ear drops are prescribed by the doctor. Physiotherapy Assessment of Muscle Strength

All of our activities of daily living depend on having sufficient muscle power to carry them out, from actions demanding high levels of power such as getting up from the ground to fine actions such as writing and typing. Loss of sensibility can be more disabling than loss of muscle power but loss of strength is important as it interferes with independent living, especially when we are older and find it difficult to rise from a chair or to climb stairs. There may be many reasons for loss of muscle power including neurological illness or stroke, joint pain, lack of use, trauma or illness and disease. Assessment of muscle strength and the progressive strengthening of muscles is a core physiotherapy skill.

Physiotherapists use the Oxford Scale to assess and grade muscle power when a patient's condition suggests this is necessary. A detailed knowledge of muscle anatomy is needed so that the muscle and its tendon can be located accurately and the correct action assessed. The Oxford Scale is a 0-5 scale which is then recorded as 0/5 or 3/5, sometimes with a + or " sign to indicate more or less power but not sufficient to reduce or increase the number. The physiotherapist will position the patient in the appropriate posture to allow accurate assessment and allow good vision and palpation of the appropriate structures.

Grade 0 is no action discernable in the muscle at all, with the physiotherapist palpating the muscle belly or tendon as the patient attempts to perform the activity several times. Grade 1 is a twitch as the muscle undergoes a small contraction but is not strong enough to perform any of its specified joint movement. Grade 2 indicates a muscle strong enough to perform its designated joint movement when the force of gravity is eliminated, making it much easier to perform. The joint must be accurately positioned for this to be tested correctly. Grade 3 is a muscle strong enough to perform the joint action to the full range against gravity but with no resistance applied. An example here would be lifting the arm above the head.

To be rated as 4/5 on the Oxford Scale a muscle must be able to move its joint through full range against resistance and gravity. The physiotherapist will decide what degree of resistance is reasonable for this test, bearing in mind the characteristics of the patient such as age, sex, activity levels and medical status. The normal rating of 5/5 is given only when the muscle can move the joint painlessly to the extent that the tester feels is entirely adequate, given the personal status of the patient. Full power for a younger, strong man will be very different for a child or old person.

If the patient can raise their arm up above the head to some extent but not very strongly nor to full range, the physiotherapist might grade that as 3/5 for the deltoid muscle but because it is not full it might be rated 3-/5. If the muscle will take good manual resistance but does not appear to be normal for that patient then the grading could be 4+/5. This grading scale allows the physiotherapist to test all the appropriate muscles and record them in the patient's notes, enabling progress to be charted against time as the strength improves. This can be very useful in tracking the progress of patients recoveries or recording their neurological status such as in spinal cord injury.

Physiotherapists begin muscle strengthening techniques in a position where gravity is eliminated, allowing a weak muscle to be repetitively exercised. As the patient's ability increases they can perform more functional activities of daily life which strengthens the muscles in a co-ordinated way which reflects normality. Next, resistance against muscle action is increased as muscle strength improves in response to the level of intensity of resistance and not just repetition. High intensity causes muscle fibre breakdown which repairs with increased size and power until the next intensity workout repeats the process. Progression is then moved to functional exercise with bodyweight resistance as dynamic movement is more useful. - 14130

I endured abuse as a child. I'm sure most people today have some scars from some sort of dysfunction in their early family life. My purpose here is not to tell horror stories, but I will tell you about how it has affected my life.

My father has always been an alcoholic. Rather than being angry with him, I felt a bit sorry for him. He is a good father to the extent that he can be. He taught us some good values. But, his addiction and relative lack of social skills led him to be distant, unreliable and angry. My mother was perpetually depressed about the whole family situation, and was therefore not very emotionally present herself. As the oldest of 6 children, I felt responsible for everyone's happiness and well-being. I'm not looking for sympathy. Actually, I am grateful for my trials and the empathy and determination they have given me. I won't deny that my childhood left me with scars, however.

I ruined my first marriage because of my lack of trust and self-love. I had sworn that I would never bring children into this life to endure unhappy parents and divorce, and yet found myself in that very situation. The pain of it almost killed me, but I emerged ready to learn and change.

This changing will be a lifelong process, but I can say that I can talk about my past now without tears (except for what my family members are putting themselves through now). My second marriage is for the most part really good, but only because I can quickly recognize when the demons of my past are acting as opposed to my true self and work through it.

Although I have always recognized my severe insecurities of being less-than or unlovable, I had no idea how to actually change them. I turned to my Christian beliefs first. Trusting in Christ while also being open to new teachings and methodology that aligned with my beliefs offered hope.

It's funny how life throws things your way at just the right time. I had found yoga, meditation, service, loving 8 kids unconditionally, and endurance events helpful. But it wasn't until I learned and applied the principles of the Law of Attraction in my business that so many of my fears and limitations were lifted.

The bottom-line in actually changing my MIND -that is all of those deeply ingrained inhibiting beliefs was quite simply gratitude and the decision to be happy. Yes, it sounds simple and it is. Why is that so hard for so many to find and grasp then? I think it is just that we think we are going to get something out of being miserable. Like, sympathy or revenge. We don't want to let our abusers off the hook. Well, guess what? WE weren't the ones who put them there, and we cant take them off. They'll have to do that for themselves. And, we think that healing takes so much time and effort. It really just takes a decision.

Think of the 5 billion people who share this planet who you wouldn't want to trade places with? Gratitude! I would dare say that in any given hour of your day there is somethin to be grateful for.

Happiness. Lest you think it is not a choice, visit a third world country. We traveled to Ethiopia to adopt our two youngest children. Most people there were lucky to have a tin shed or a mud hut to live in, were facing rampant cases of AIDS all around them, had no medical care, millions of orphans, and very little food. And yet, most that we came in contact with were extremely happy. They had discovered what we in America may not ever. We are human BEINGS not human DOINGS. The things you do don't and never will define you . Just be, and decide to be happy. Smile. Don't even think outside of the box. How about outside of yourself?

I don't want to sound as if I am judging anyone who is lost in depression for whatever reason. I have been there. I know that healing sometimes takes time and work. Phantom Limb Pain

All the information which comes into our sensory system such as feelings like touch and pain is transmitted up to the sensory cortex of the brain, where the parts of the body have specific parts of the cortex dedicated to them. The diagram which results when the body parts are illustrated against the sensory cortex is called the homunculus, in which certain parts such as the lips and hands have much larger areas of brain devoted to them than average. This is because the importance for daily life of those areas is greater and more information is required from them to figure out what's going on.

In an acute injury the injured part goes through an inflammatory process, with the soup of irritating chemicals waking up normally silent pain nerves and a stream of nerves impulses making their way upwards. These enter the spinal cord and pass the messages on to the next stage nerves, which become highly stimulated by the incoming impulse streams as they start to amplify the incoming pain levels. This increases and passes on higher pain intensities up to the brain, forcing us to take corrective actions.

To feel any pain our higher brain areas such as our sensory cortex and our conscious interpreting minds must receive the pain impulses as pain is not present until it gets right through. No pain is imaginary but the brain builds a virtual feeling reality in order to interpret the world and be able to respond, a virtual reality involving sight, touch and pain. It's vital to understand the concept that the brain is what makes the reality of the pain and not the injured, damaged or abnormal body part.

When we have an amputation our nervous system is divided as well as our limb. The bone, muscle and ligaments which are cut through are easy to envisage, but we do not think about the nerves which have to be cut, the consequences of which can be very important. The nervous system does not like parts of it to be removed, it does not like it when an area which normally sends in loads of information suddenly stops doing so. When this occurs odd things start happening in the nervous system, things which can have unpleasant results.

When normal incoming impulses are blocked from reaching the second stage spinal cord nerves these nerves overreact by becoming highly irritable and increasingly active. Due to the nerve transection and the complete loss of sensory input the second stage nerves start to go into business on their own, firing off pain signals without any incoming stimulation. As the sensory areas in the brain for the leg or other amputated part are still present, when they receive the spontaneous inputs from the overexcited second stage nerves they interpret them as pain in the area where the nerve used to come from originally.

Phantom pain is the name given to pain which is present in a part which does not exist any longer. It is a common consequence of amputation with a high proportion of amputees reporting a pain problem which can come on over weeks and months. This pain can be very troubling, more troubling than most typical pains, due to its unpleasant nature which can be very sharp or deep and throbbing. Phantom pain is an example of neuropathic pain, a pain generated by the nervous system rather than by current injury to bodily tissues as in normal pain.

Neuropathic pain is difficult to treat with morphine type drugs such as fentanyl, codeine, morphine or tramadol and more common agents against this sort of pain are gabapentin, amitriptyline and pregabalin. Physical treatment agents such as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation may be used by attaching small electrodes to the skin and transmitting pain reducing signals to the central nervous system. Cognitive therapy may be necessary to help patients manage the problems of a long term pain.

Phantom pain can be an intractable, serious problem for anyone with an amputation, and having significant pain before the amputation may make the likelihood of phantom pain greater. A multidisciplinary approach involving a pain clinic is most likely to be helpful. - 14130

Physiotherapy Treatment for Proprioception

The importance of proprioception has been covered in a previous article so this article concentrates on the assessment and management of problems due to loss of joint position sense. Physiotherapists concentrate mostly on pain, loss of joint ranges and poor muscle power initially as these are the commonest restrictions found clinically. However they will always consider joint position sense once the more typically troublesome symptoms are settling. Full rehabilitation of the patient back to normal or sporting activity cannot be said to be complete without retraining the proprioceptive function of the body's joint and nervous systems.

Putting our hands in front of our faces is the reason we have arms, because to be able to manipulate objects we have to be able to see what we are doing. An effective and precise system to give us close feedback is required so we can check on how our performance is matching our movement plans and then make the necessary corrections. With our very mobile hand joints and our binocular vision we have evolved the ability to precisely manipulate objects and perform useful work to change our environments. We have to know where the joints of our arms and hands are at any time if we are going to do activities like touch typing, which I am doing now, and for which I must have accurate feedback about the position and movements of my fingers.

Upper limb proprioception can be tested by the physiotherapist getting the patient to shut their eyes and then by putting their good arm into a specific position. Once the position has been set by the physiotherapist the patient is asked to put their other, affected, arm into the same position as closely as possible. A person whose joint position sense is unaffected can mirror position of one arm by using the other, very accurately. Any deficits in the ability to understand the position of the arm joints will be apparent after this test.

The lower body, the legs and pelvis, is adapted to carry the large muscles and sustain the large weights which are involved in running and walking. Interfering with our ability to be independent in mobility is very difficult and any loss of joint position sense in the legs is serious. This is well illustrated by an ex-patient of mine with multiple sclerosis, who had problems in the dark.

My patient told me a short story with which many of us can identify. He went into a toilet and shut the door, locking it behind him. He automatically turned on the light, not noticing that the light was already on, something we have all probably done. Unfortunately for my patient, when the light went out so did the visual clues he was getting from his eyes gauging his movement in space, causing him to fall over at once! Since his proprioception was inaccurate he could not figure out where his legs where moment to moment and could not readjust any inaccuracies.

Physiotherapists test patients' joint position sense routinely on assessing a patient after trauma or neurological illness. Getting the patient to mirror the position of the good leg with the affected leg can be used if the problem is profound or the patient is in bed. More practical ways of testing use weight bearing positions, starting with checking the gait which might give an indication of any losses of the joint position sense. Less dramatic limitations can show up with balance testing, starting with standing with the feet together and moving on to standing on one leg and balancing with the eyes shut.

Proprioceptive ability can be re-trained by the physiotherapist who will initially ask patients to move their limbs under visual control, gradually withdrawing this until they can rely on the information pouring in from the bodily structures for co-ordinated movement. Adding compression by encouraging weight bearing through the joint can increase the proprioceptive input through the structures and improve the accuracy of input and of the movement response. Even though the patient may not be able to entirely regain their abilities, by working at the deficiencies they can continue to improve. - 14130

For example, and acupuncturists can take an image during the initiation evaluation with a patient and have access to a view of all their energy forces, allowing them to pinpoint which of them is out of balance. With the ability to present signs of the patient's emotional state while being photographed, people in a relaxed state tend to show results in the blue-white corona, while any state of anxiety or stress tend to exhibit a superimposition of red which can possibly dissolve the coronal boundary. This information is based on the numerous tests conducted by Dr. Thelma Moss of UCLA during the 1970s.

Kirlian photography, while it has skeptics, also has a strong foundation in the scientific and healing world. Professionals have used this 'accidental' discovery to help the lives of their patients around the world. It is hoped that it will become embraced by traditional western medicine for the diagnosis and treatment of major diseases like cancer.
