Do You Understand The Term 'Past Regression'?

By John Paul Harding

Do you know what past life regression is? This is something which is closely tied to the idea of reincarnation - and as an increasing number of people accept this concept, there is a growing interest in being able to recall the details of our past lives.

One thing which can help you to get started is to keep a past lives journal. This is where you can write down your emotions and thoughts, even the most trivial which seem to be out of place with the experiences which have shaped you as a person in your present lifetime. Some of the things which seem to be of particular importance to many include fears of or attractions to specific places and things, whether or not you have ever been there or seen them for yourself; at least in this lifetime. Your journal can help you to start drawing connections and piecing together the puzzle of a past life or lives.

You can start off your past lives journal by making a list of likes and dislikes, foods, places and cultures you seem particularly attracted to and other such details about yourself. Any talents you seem to possess without having had to practice should be noted; basically, everything which makes you who you are should be here; this will help you to identify patterns later on as you add to the journal.

You may also want to write down some of the details of your dreams in your journal; but remember that much of what appears in your dreams is likely to be taken from your present life.

Past life regression is another option.

You may have to go see an experienced past life regression therapist. These therapists are skilled in taking you through a regression step by step and then helping you to interpret what you have gathered from this experience. To accomplish this, the therapist will use hypnosis. However, self hypnosis may also be an option.

Meditation is another way to delve into your past lives

For a lot of people, it is hard to induce a past life regression experience using meditation. We are often skeptical of what we receive during these experiences; but in order to make the most of your regression, you have to learn to trust your instincts and to listen to yourself.

If you are new to the practice, meditation may feel much like daydreaming; but the images and other information receives about past lives as you meditate can be accurate and valuable. You should write down everything about your experience in your past lives journal so you can compare this against the rest of your notes.

Many people find meditation aids like a mandala or other focal point, incense, music or other accompaniments to be helpful. There are also recordings you can use including water sounds and other soothing audio, as well as guided meditation tapes.

You can also use binaural beats.

These are specially designed audio recordings which contain specific frequencies which can help you reach a deep meditative state quickly. While you meditate, choose a quiet place where you will not be disturbed and that you can sit or lie down comfortably. As you begin, make a conscious effort to relax your body and maintain a positive mindset.

In order to reach a meditative state, you need to completely relax your mind and your body. If thoughts about your everyday life intrude, just acknowledge their presence - and quickly move past them to clear your mind. This can take some practice, but if you are willing to dedicate some time to meditation, you will soon learn - and you can start to learn about your previous lives.

Using past life regression techniques can also assist you in dealing with problems you have in the present day. Many people find that they have had the same people around them in more than one lifetime; the past may hold clues to managing interpersonal relationships in the present.

A large number of the world's religious traditions include reincarnation among their beliefs, particularly the Karmic religions of South Asia. Jains, Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists all believe that your actions in every lifetime influence the circumstances you will be born into the next time around. What this teaches us is that having an understanding of your past lives can be the key to living better right now.

Regression has to be done with an open mind to the possibilities the practice opens up. You need to be willing to take in what comes to you and open to learning from your past mistakes to change your current life for the better.

Experts say that re-experiencing some of the events of a past life can be a powerful tool for overcoming mental blocks and giving you a better outlook towards your life and the world around you.

Learning about past lives lets you prevent yourself from making the same mistakes all over again - and use what you learn to improve not just your own life, but the world around you.

Another benefit of regression is that you may, as have many others, discover a talent you never knew you had! Seeing yourself doing something in a past life may be a clue to a talent you need only to bring out of its latent state to share with the world.

As long as you have an open mind and are ready to learn from your past lives, there are many benefits which past life regression may hold for you. - 14130
