This will help to bring the condition under control much more quickly and once the patients anxiety has become stabilized they can start to explore other ways of treating the problem. The first type of medication that a doctor will prescribe for a patient is anti-depressants such as Paxil or Zoloft. Also the doctor may prescribe some type of mild tranquilizer as this can help to get the person in a more relaxed frame of mind. Through a course of sessions with a qualified therapist, a person learns certain techniques including breathing which can help them to face those situations, which cause their anxiety levels to rise. However, this particular form of therapy is only effective if the person learning to use it works at learning the techniques correctly.

Along with behavioural therapy, a doctor may choose to get their patients disorder treated using cognitive behavioural therapy instead. This is a form of therapy that goes into more depth and helps the person to recognise those situations or patterns, which is causing them to suffer from anxiety attacks. As well as recognizing the triggers, a person will learn ways in which they can change the situation in order to prevent an attack from taking place. So what they are in fact doing is learning of different ways they should be reacting in a particular situation.

As for psychodynamic therapy this is a treatment where they are trying to find what is the underlying cause for a person's anxiety problems. It is only by bringing this problems to the forefront can a person be able to resolve them and this in turn will help to alleviate the problems that their anxiety disorder is causing.

Even though you will find plenty of natural remedies that can be used for treating anxiety disorders, many are not considered to be ones that are used by the mainstream medical profession. Yes, passion flower extract, Valerian root extract and Kava Kava are beneficial as anxiety disorder treatments, but to be truly effective they need to be used in conjunction with other treatments. Such treatments, which work well alongside these natural remedies, are acupuncture and massage therapy.
