Gall Bladder Stones Symptoms

By Rob Fitzer

If you are overweight and sometimes experience stomach pain and feeling sick after you have eaten a meal then you could be suffering from gall bladder disease. The gall bladder is a small pear shaped organ that is situated underneath your liver and to the right. The gall bladder's job is to help you digest fat by using bile that collects in the organ.

Gall stones occur when the cholesterol, calcium and bile salts are not digested and instead form into structures known as stones. These stones cause the gall bladder to become inflamed and swell up, which is known as cholecystitis and choledocholithiasis, which occurs when gallstones gather inside the bile duct, cholangitis or infection of the gall bladder and bile duct and pancreatitis, are all symptoms that a person has gall stones.

It is the gallstones that lead to the pain you may be experiencing in your stomach after a meal. Gall bladder pain is very similar to severe cases of heartburn and indigestion but the pain is more acute and the bouts of pain last longer than either of the other two.

The general symptoms of gall bladder disease are abdominal pain, nausea, indigestion, vomiting, a bloated abdomen, and pain and discomfort when ingesting fatty foods. These symptoms are common in patients with the chronic form of the disease, and apart from pain in the gall bladder area, many people will present with no other symptoms.

If you think that you do have gall bladder problems and are suffering gall bladder stomach pain, then the first thing you should do is see your physician. They may advise you to try alleviating the problem with natural methods, or if your symptoms are acute, then your doctor may recommend surgery to remove your gall bladder. - 14130
