Allergy, the Plague of the Civilized World

By Diana Jackson

Allergy is one of the diseases which modern medicine cannot cure. The only thing allergologists can do is to diagnose the patient, to determine the allergens, then to prescribe medication for making the symptoms disappear. Curing is not possible in such cases.

Each allergy remedy has its so called fan club. There are such substances which for some humans give wonderful results, while for others just don't make any difference. The human body is unique and so is the allergy treatment and medication.

Allergy is very tricky. It is possible that you don't know you have it until it's too late to live a normal life. Symptoms increase in intensity with each exposure to the allergen substance which triggers your immune system's erroneous reaction.

When the immune system mistakes a harmless substance like dust or pollen as a sworn enemy of the human body, it will start a real war for annihilating that substance, thus giving reactions which can be life threatening.

Over the years, people have tried many herbal remedies such as nettles in order to see if they can make the allergy symptoms fade away. Yet, most of the patients go for antihistamines, as the best way to keep the symptoms under control.

How do allergy attacks manifest themselves? It's very easy to believe that you have something else, because some of the main symptoms are cold and flu like, you just sneeze a lot, your nose is running, your eyes get teary and red, and you feel like your head is going to explode because of the internal pressure.

Life endangering, massive swelling can be neutered by epinephrine shots. This remedy needs to be administrated immediately, because a couple of minutes are enough to kill an sufferer. The brain cannot live without oxygen and if you can't breathe, it will suffer irreversible damage. - 14130
