Vaporizers and Health

By Sanders Wahl

A vaporizer is a machine used to heat plant matter to a specific temperature at which the psycho active compounds of the herbs are turned into a gas, to be inhaled. Vaporization is an alternative to smoking which is the burning and inhalation of both extra plant matter and desired compounds at super heated temperatures.

Vaporization is considered superior to smoking by many enthusiasts because it cuts down and can virtually eliminate the inhalation of irritating components in smoke. Because they heat herbs to very specific temperatures vaporizers work by boiling only the active ingredients. No burning of herbs occurs.

When plant matter is combusted most of the cloudy smoke that is produced is from the plant matter itself. It is in this part of the plant that many of the harmful components are found. In the case of most plants that are usually smoked for recreational reasons the active compounds become gaseous and able to be ingested at temperatures well below the combustion temperature of the underlying material. By heating plant matter to the temperature required to boil off only the desired compounds there is no need for combustion.

Most machines work by heating herbs and then passing the resulting gas either through a hose to be inhaled immediately or into a receptacle to be consumed leisurely. Since there is normally very little smoke created the smoker can enjoy lower temperatures and a much smoother hit.

Fans of vaporization cite several advantages including more pronounced effects from the psychoactive elements and quicker onset as compared to delivery methods such as eating. As another benefit the unhealthy effects of second hand smoke are substantially lowered.

Many people like vaporizers and the special smoking experience they can provide. If you have never tried using a vaporizer contemporary designs are incredibly easy to use. Many come with digital controls and displays which allows for convenient temperature control, the most important aspect of vaporizing.. - 14130
