High Heels and Back Pain

A fashionable pair of high heels is an essential part or any women's wardrobe. There are many brand names that we recognize, such as: Gucci, Steve Madden, Monolo blahnik and Christian Louboutin.

What do these high heels really do? For a women it makes the legs appear longer, the tush will appear to be higher and the calves are going to look and appear sleeker. What they are is a symbol of sex appeal and of course feminine beauty.

Chiropractors and orthopedic surgeons think that high heels are a problem because they are the cause of many womens back pains. If you are a slave to fashion, then you can find yourself enslaved to have chronic back pain from your high heels.

Women walk an average of 10,000 steps a day. If she is walking those steps in high heels, she is putting a strain on her back and putting her health at risk as well.

High heels do not allow weight to be distributed equally throughout the entire foot. The high heels cause the body's weight to actually be centered forward on or in the toes. This goes against gravity and nature. It causes stress on the vertebrae of the spine and it causes stress on the muscles.

When women remove their high heels, you will hear a sign of relief. The relief of her whole body will feel like she is back on solid earth. The back pain will be relieved until she puts her high heels on again. The pain will come in the form of muscle spasms, stiffness and soreness.

The Story of High Hell Heeled High heels were originally for both men and women to seem taller and show some form of status in high society. Men wore them to keep their feet in the stirrups and women would wear them to help increase beauty. This trend continued for many centuries.

High heels for men have gone out of fashion, but high heels for women continue to be a trend. The trend is not just associated with sex, but it is one of fashion. Runway models, celebrities, and professionals still portray this high heel fashion trend.

High heels have been causing women back pain ever since the 1500"s. This is what the high heels cause:

Pain in buttocks and back of calves - Slipped Discs - Callusea - Chronic Back Pain - Hammertoe - Bunions - Hip pain - Curvature of the spine - Knee osteoarthtritis

The fat high heel became popular in the 1980's. Research showed that the fat high heels caused increase pressure on the knees. Therefore research proved that the fat high heel is not less harmful than the skinny toed stilettos.

Podiatrists and orthopedists recommend wearing a one half to three quarter inch heel. This height is better to reduce back pain than the flat heeled shoes. A small lift from the heels supports the foot, knees and back. Physicians believe that back pain would be reduced if high heels came with a warning label that read "Hazardous to your health!
