Bacteria vaginosis is considered a unhealthy changing condition within the vagina, often simply called, an infection that causes vaginitis. Bacteria vaginosis (BV) is one of the most common vaginal infections among pregnant women who need to be specially aware. With bacterial vaginosis occurring among pregnant women between 10-20% of the time. There is a strong link between BV and preterm delivery and between BV and early spontaneous miscarriage prior to 16 weeks gestation.

One way that women can start an imbalance is by using a douche. It is thought that over douching can lead to BV.

Bacterial Vaginosis is definitely one of the leading causes of vaginal odor. This odor may become more pronounced after having intercourse and often has a fishy vaginal odor.

Sometimes there is a fishy odor often associated with bacterial vaginosis caused by certain bacteria. Many women find that after intercourse the odor is more pronounced.

Women who are sexually active appear to be at greatest risk for developing bacterial vaginosis. But even women who are not sexually active can develop it.

If present during pelvic surgery or invasive vaginal procedures, bacteria vaginosis makes the reproductive tract vulnerable to infection or inflammation, which has been linked to such problems as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and can cause serious problems with future attempts at pregnancies.

Bacteria vaginosis can raise your susceptibility to HIV infection if you are exposed to the virus and BV increases the chances that an you can pass HIV to your sex partner. It can also raise susceptibility to other STDs.
