One of the most often heard of saying nowadays is the phrase, "Health is Wealth". Simply put, an excellent health is treasure for a person. What good will money do if one is very sick.
However, what if others take this saying literally and give it a different meaning at the same time?
What I am saying is that people here in the Philippines have taken this age old quote to a more literal level by getting rich selling health supplements. Today, the market here in the Philippines is jam-packed with "Herbal food supplements", so much that any business minded individual has seriously considered it as their cash cow. Some people say that the ordinary person may even go to the extent of skipping the medicine recommended by their doctors so that they can buy food supplements that claim to "cure all."
Herbal food supplements are good for our bodies and I have no ill-feeling towards them. In fact we all know that many of these food herbal supplements are well recommended by physicians who are reputable.
But many of these herbal food supplements are advertised as "cure it all" and this is what I am against. There are only certain diseases that these food supplements can really cure but since they are labeled as "food supplements" by the Bureau of Food and Drugs of the Philippines therefore they should correctly advertise the proper information.
However, what makes things more complicated is many of these products have not been even strictly tested in the laboratories or have not gone to a third party clinical laboratory to make sure that what they have been advertising is really effective against the diseases they have been claiming to cure.
"To serve and protect the Filipino people" is the primary concern of the Philippine government. Without implementing strict measures against these herbal food supplement, they have not done that responsibility well. I challenge the government to live up to the oath they have promised and protect the people! - 14130
