Natural Treatments for Asthma

By Lee Jacob

When it comes to treating Asthma, it is very important to make sure that you find something that not only works, but works well. After all, this has to do with your ability to breathe so it is nothing to mess around with. Luckily, for many people, there are many prescription medications out there that are supposed to be able to help a great deal with asthma problems.

Sometimes though, people will find that there just does not seem to be a prescription medication out there that works for them. And then sometimes people just prefer a more natural treatment route. Whatever the case may be for you, it is important to know that there are in fact many treatments out there that work for those suffering from asthma. Not all natural treatments will treat people the same so you will have to work at finding what is best for you.

A natural treatment that worked well for your friend may not do as well for you. Because of this you may have to research through a few different treatments before you find the one that works the best for you. A simple one to try would be that of simply increasing the amount of carrots, tomatoes, and leafy vegetables in your diet. There was a study that was conducted on a group of women that showed the increase in veggies to have an amazing impact on their problems with acne.

Children who get enough fruit and veggies on a daily basis have a lower chance at ever developing asthma. And those who are over weight can decrease their problems with asthma by simply losing some weight. The links between obesity and asthma have been overwhelming in studies.

For food with anti-inflammatory properties, Bromelain, a pineapple extract, is something that those suffering with asthma should look into. Of course anyone that has an allergy to pineapples should not use this type of treatment for their asthma.

If you are looking for a natural treatment that does not deal with food, then the Buteyko Breathing Technique may be something to look into. The Buteyko Breathing Technique was developed by Mr. Konstantin Pavlovich Buteyko, a researcher born in Russia. Those who have tried this breathing technique were able to see a decrease in the symptoms of asthma that they suffered with.

Another way to help decrease your asthma symptoms is to cut out the foods in your diet that contain arachidonic acid. These foods would include egg yolks, meat, and shellfish. By eating fewer of these foods, you may be able to notice decreased inflammation, which means fewer asthma symptoms.

Now that you are aware that there are many different kinds of natural treatments for asthma is it time to find what will work the best for you. It may take a few weeks for the natural treatment to kick in so you want to make sure that you are giving it that chance. If you are on prescription medication for your asthma problems you will need to make sure that you are speaking to your doctor before stopping treatment. In the end you may find that the natural treatment works well with the treatment that your doctor has you on. - 14130
