Easy Sinusitis Remedies

By Paul Tamens

There is a war going on and the battleground is in your sinusitis if you suffer from a bad case of sinusitis. You will certainly feel like you have been through a war because of the fatigue that will set in your body as a result of the constant sneezing and stuffy feeling that you have. To tip the scales in your favor, here are some sinusitis remedies you can implement to give yourself the additional edge that you need to win.

One main cause of sinusitis symptoms is allergies. Allergies occur when you come in contact with something that triggers an allergic reaction. This reaction causes inflammation of the sinuses, which in turn causes sinusitis. To overcome allergies you should limit your exposure to whatever you believe is causing the allergic reaction. For instance, if you know that a high pollen count triggers you allergies, you should avoid coming in contact with pollen as much as possible.

The air you breathe plays a vital role in helping you to gain relief faster. Breathing in dry air simply helps to compound the problem. Instead, you want to make the air you breathe as humid as possible. One way to do this is to go into the bathroom, turn on the hot shower, leave it running and spend 10-15 minutes breathing in the humid air in the bathroom. Another way to do this is to simply purchase a humidifier and leave it running throughout the house.

Now is the time to intake lots of liquids. Liquids help you to break up the mucus and allow you to blow it out of your body. Hot liquid like soup, coffee or tea will help not just by drinking it, but also sniffing the hot fumes. There are certain herbs as well that you can add to your tea that will help you to expel the mucus even more. These include ephedra, fenugreek, licorice and fennel to name a few.

One area that is forgotten when it comes to fighting sinusitis is the immune system. If sinusitis is being caused by bacteria or viruses, your immune system plays a critical role in helping you to battle these foreign invaders into your body. Vitamin C is a proven source of building the immune system. Of course, there?s the classic good health fundamentals that consist of eating a well balanced diet, getting plenty of exercise and getting plenty of rest.

Bacteria and viruses can be spread from person to person so if you want to avoid getting sinusitis in the first place, one way you can do so is by limiting your exposure to these elements. This can be done by following some simple common sense strategies. For instance, if you see someone coughing and sneezing a lot, stay away from them so you don?t get infected. If you are touching a lot of items that other people are using, make sure you wash your hands after you done. These few simple disciplines will help you to win the battle of sinusitis.
