Many lifetimes ago, I was a Physical Fitness Trainer, and a good one at that! I held clients for an average of 2 years where the average fitness trainer would hold them for 2 months. I enjoyed the fitness world tremendously. Seeing the smile on client's faces light up when we helped them reached their goals was extremely rewarding. It's a very similar reward I get now as a Hypnotherapist.
In fact it's my career as a fitness trainer that gently "pushed" me into this world as a Hypnotherapist. Even though I was getting excellent results where most fitness trainers have failed, I wanted to push the envelope with my clients. There were times when a client would get "stuck" even though we did numerous fitness programs to get them past the hump. Then there were those clients that were even more difficult. The ones that were doing everything "right" - eating healthy, working out 3X plus a week, wrote a food journal and never cheated, but still couldn't lose a pound! I didn't get it and it frustrated the heck out of me. Then I added hypnosis into the whole mix.
So I went ahead and became a certified hypnotherapist and used my new found skills on my "difficult" clients and zoom! It was exactly what we needed. I was pleasantly shocked to see how started to make everything easier. Now, many fitness trainers would have been very happy with the success I had but still, there was still that 2 or 3 clients that couldn't reach their goals.
My Boss at the time told me to simply relax as I was doing an amazing job with my clientele, however, I could not. I wanted all my clients to be happy. Eventually I was able to open up my Hypnosis practice and bring my fitness clientele with me. So I was up and running fast.
However, the same thing happened again! With my hypnosis clientele I could get the vast majority of my weight loss clients to thier goals succesffuly but still there was that 2 or 3 clients that would do everything right and still be stick. As I look back, I know I should have been alot easier on myself, but I guess it's that perfetionistic side of me that wants success in everything I do. So I made it a priority to be able to help those clients that were doing everything right but still not getting to thier goals.
Then one day, during a session, I realized something. What if what they are eating which they "THINK" is good for them is really going against thier true nature for genuine health? Which brings me to the point of this article.
Turn on television or read a magazine and we're bombarded with information on the best diets or diet products out there, by what seem to be very credible individuals. But many of these individuals, by looking at them, leave you wondering "well, if this diet or program is so good, how come they don't look like they're in shape themselves? We have literally been brainwashed into believing thier slogans. They have been able to create enough doubt inside of us to take us away from our innate wisdom of what is healthy for us, individually.
Whenever I work with someone, I encourage them to come back to basics. To come back to trusting thier bodies and thier instincts to let them know what is healthy for them. Specifically with those clients that did everything right but still could not reach thier goals. When they did finally start trusting thier body, the weight finally started to coming off for those clients that were having such a difficult time. This gave me that old feeling I had when I helped a fitness client get through to thier goals when everything else failed.
In my office with private one on one clients, I center my hypnosis concepts around helping my clients find that inner voice. Some have a difficult time with this at first, as they've had a lifetime of negative perceptions about themselves and have listened to other peoples' perceptions about them. In these cases we have to use other forms of hypnosis to clear out the old beliefs and perceptions first, then when that's done, listening to that inner voice becomes easier. What amazes me about this, is that the majority of my clientele naturally came back to whole foods as the base of thier diets. It's as if thier natural program for health took over and as a result, thier bodies have rewared them with more energy and vitality, and that's what genuine weight loss is all about!
So come back to the beginning - trust that inner voice and listen. It will help you get right back on track to being slim and healthy! - 14130
