Keep These Good Massage Tips In Mind

By Kerris Samson

It is crucial that when you are doing massage on somebody that you make it as relaxing an experience for them as you possibly can. It is vital that the massage will help to alleviate the stresses and strains that modern living can sometimes place a person under, and which can often lead to other health issues as well. Below are a number of good massage tips which will help to ensure that the massage you give to someone is not only enjoyable but safe also.

1. It is important that the location where you will be carrying out the massage is one which the person having the treatment finds easy to relax in. Ideally you should have an area where they can either lie or sit down comfortably in and it should also be warm. Remember there are going to occasions when the person will need to remove items of clothing in order for the treatment to really be effective. Also if you can why not have some music gently playing in the ground as this can often help with getting a person settled and relaxed before the massage session commences. But before putting the music on it may be advisable to ask the person if they want music to listen to or not.

2. It is crucial that once every session with a person has been completed you replace all towels and sheets with new fresh ones. A person is far likely to relax when they know that the person treating them respects them and maintains the equipment they use to a high standard.

3. Even though you may not think your breath smells it is a good idea to have a few breath mints at hand, just in case. Also if you have just eaten then why not clean your teeth as well. You are going to be in close contact with the people you are treating and they may find it difficult to relax and get comfortable if as you work on them all they can smell is your garlic or onion breath.

4. Remember you are going to have people visiting you for a massage who are self-conscious about their bodies and may be unwilling to take their clothing off. Therefore, with these people initially it may be wise to use those massage therapy techniques that do not require their clothes to be removed. Only after they become more relaxed and comfortable in your company should you suggest moving on to those types of massage techniques that require clothing to be removed.

5. At the start of each massage therapy session you should only be using light pressure on the person being treated. Then as they become more relaxed and pliable so the amount of pressure you apply to the areas to be treated can be increased. This will in turn be more beneficial to those areas of the body that require the treatment.

6. Also do not use the same part of your hand throughout the massage session. What you should do is actually change the part of the hand as this will prevent you from tiring too quickly and which could actually reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

Whenever you are carrying out massage on someone it is important to remember that the person should be comfortable and happy with what is happening. If you keep the good massage tips above in mind then you will find that not only is the person much more relaxed but they will find the whole experience enjoyable and will in all likelihood return for further sessions with you. - 14130
