Relief of Natural Pain

By Amanda Gamdana

There is a reason we have pain and that is to stop us from injuring ourselves further as the pain will normally stop us from doing any more damage. Anything can trigger pain from a headache to a broken bone but the pain gives us an indication of where and what the problem is. Sometimes, however, pain isn't dealt with so easily and it remains with us despite all efforts to banish it.

When this happens the condition is referred to as 'chronic pain' and examples of this range from back pain to migraines. There is no preventative action you can take to stop chronic pain and it can affect someone at anytime during their life from almost any situation from accident, injury or disease. Chronic pain often long outlives its original cause, worsening over time and taking on a life of its own and the longer chronic pain goes untreated, the worse it becomes.

The problem with prescription medication is that it is easy to become dependent and as time progresses the drugs become less effective but the dependence remains; or there are serious side effects to be considered and many are now turning towards natural pain relief treatments as long term alternatives. One such natural pain relief method is the use of acupuncture, a treatment that has origins many thousands of years old. This method of pain relief has been used successfully in China and the East for many thousands of years.

Patients with conditions like severe back pain, migraines and arthritis claim it makes their condition much more bearable and relieves pain more than any conventional treatment they have used. Other people have started using herbal remedies as a natural pain relief treatment because there is little chance of any adverse side effects causing further problems. For the reduction in arthritic pain, Emu oil can be used and people with scarring pain can try vitamin E; these are just two natural pain relief remedies of the many available.

The downside of herbal treatments used is they often take longer to achieve noticeable results; the upside is that you aren't introducing man-made foreign compounds into your body, and run less risk of side effects or damaging your overall health.

However, one of the best ways to avoid even the need for natural pain relief is to adapt your lifestyle by adopting a healthy diet with plenty of fruit, whole grains and vegetables, with a reduction in the consumption of processed foods. Also Sleep is essential to good health just as much as regular exercise is, even if it is only walking every day and using stairs rather than the elevator. - 14130
