Herbal remedies for Gout are an excellent therapy to get rid of gout. Plenty of reasons exist for using herbs such as celery seed to combat this painful disease. A few of them include decreasing inflammation, increasing renal function, and reducing uric acid.

Celery seed is very effective in relieving the causes and symptoms that are associated with gout. It helps lower inflammation. It also enables your renal system to excrete uric acid more effectively. Celery seed also alkalizes your blood thereby helping lower your uric acid levels.

Since celery seed is a diuretic, proper hydration is very important. Water is crucial in maintaining healthy renal function, so make sure you are drinking enough water or eating enough water dense foods.

You can use celery seed as either a spice in your dinners or you can take it in extract form. It is not usually advisable to eat the seeds themselves as they tend to be bitter and can be hard to swallow.

This herb does have it's drawbacks. A couple of them are very serious. A small percentage of people actually have an allergy to this herb. An allergy to this herb is very dangerous.

Celery seeds contain oils that can be highly lethal if you are allergic to them. This highly dangerous medical condition is called anaphylaxis. While it is unlikely you will have this problem, I feel it is important that you are aware of this potentially lethal side effect.

If you are a woman who has gout, avoid taking this herb if you are pregnant. Celery seed can stimulate the uterus making premature birth or miscarriage possible.

Unless you have allergies to celery seed or are pregnant, celery seed should be very beneficial to you. Suggested dosages are 35-75mg per day and some naturopaths have suggested as much as 150mg. - 14130
