Headache Cure - Things You Really Need to Know

By Morgan Mathers

Headaches are a pain! We never want the pain and when it hits us, it disrupts our lives and causes us to be less efficient in our daily tasks. To help compensate, we will take some over the counter medicine to help tide us over with the full understanding that the headache will come back when the medication wears off. This is a merry-go-round kind of headache relief and many people would rather find a way to treat the cause of the pain so it goes away forever. If this sounds like you, and you are looking for a natural headache cure, then you should read the six remedies that follow.

The first natural way to rid yourself of a headache is to eat properly. When you eat a well-balanced diet three times a day, then this will help you deal with your headaches much better. It will help your headache go away much faster plus it helps keep it away. A proper meal plan consists of all the recommended food groups as well as such foods as milk, fruits, nuts, whole grains, vegetables, yogurt, and honey.

Another way to stop headache pain is by eating grapes. When you feel a headache coming on you can do one of two things. You can either eat a bowl full of grapes at the start of your headache or you can also drink the juice if you prefer. If you choose to drink grape juice, you must squeeze fresh grapes in order for it to help.

One more way to naturally get rid of your headache is by drinking water. Water is the life force that flows through us and keeps us alive. So, it would stand to reason that it also helps to get rid of a headache. It will prevent a headache from coming and gets rid of one already in progress. If you want some extra power to make sure your headache goes away, then add one teaspoon of honey to the water. Studies have shown honey to be an excellent method of headache relief as it will both diminish a headache already in progress, and then get rid of it altogether.

A cold compress is an additional way to relieve headache pain. Many people have stated that using a cold compress makes their headache go away. There is no need to purchase an expensive compress as one can easily be made at home. Just add some ice into a zip-lock bag and then cover the bag with a towel. Presto! You now have a cold compress ready to cure your headache!

Sometimes a hot compress works better as a headache cure than a cold compress does. A hot compress works wonders for me but a cold compress works better for my aunt. Each person is built differently so you will have to try both to determine which one works best for your headache. To prepare a hot compress, just take a hand towel, soak it in warm water, heat it up in the microwave for five seconds, and then place on your head. Heating pads do not work in the same way because they lack the moisture that is needed to help relieve the pain.

When other methods fail, sleep can relieve your pain. Sleep provides a temporary migraine cure to help you deal with the pain a little better, plus it provides the time for any conventional pain relieving methods that you used to start working. If you are not tired enough to sleep, you should at least try to sit in a dark room for a while because light may aggravate your pain and make it worse. While this does not offer a permanent solution for your headache, it will help you deal with it until the other remedies kick in to end your pain.

People often look to natural sources when they tire of the conventional over-the-counter medication not working to relieve their pain. There are natural remedies that will help get rid of your pain and help it stay away. So, if you suffer from headaches and are looking for some natural cures to help relieve headache pain, then you should try to use the six sources listed above: a hot compress, grapes, sleep, cold compress, and a proper diet.
