By Amanda Gamdana

Like all of us, you too have had your share of cuts and wounds at some time and you would have noticed that the time taken for healing may not always be quick. The process by which cuts and wounds heal better and faster is when you use aloe vera.

Aloe vera is acclaimed by many as an out-of-the-ordinary plant mainly due to its awe-inspiring health benefits. Our association with aloe vera goes back thousands of years when it was used for its effect on the skin and as the legend goes even Alexander the Great and Cleopatra used aloe vera for its alleviating properties.

The primary cause of efficacy is that aloe vera is a moisturizing agent par excellence. For wounds to heal faster and better it would also need a moisturized environment and they can not heal with dry dressings which usually cause acute pain during removal or changing. You can get the moisturizing attributes of in two ways - either you opt for local application on the skin or you ingest it in the form of pills or juices where aloe vera works from within.

Cuts and wounds are usually accompanied by inflammation surrounding the area, and aloe vera with its quick-acting anti-inflammatory properties helps in mitigating the inflammation which is one more reason behind its efficacy. This is a crucial part of the total recuperating process and it effectively minimizes the length of duration of healing also acting on the reduction of pain.

Finally, aloe vera with its inherent essential nutrients help in cell multiplication and promotes flow of blood to the skin which then acts as a skin cleanser from many germs. Moreover, if the wounds are an after-effect of any disease condition, so when it is ingested, it can revamp the immune system so that it is capable of preventing any worsening of the condition.

Thus it is abundantly clear that aloe vera not only treats cuts and wounds, it also minimizes inflammation and hastens the overall healing process. It is also a potent treatment option for treating some other skin conditions like acne, eczema and psoriasis.

There are some other notable benefiting properties of aloe vera as it is randomly used as an anti-ageing agent as well as for pain reduction during sunburns, so if you are still a non-user of aloe vera, why not go ahead and try it? - 14130
